Yoga dictionary. Dukkha
Patanjali in his Yoga sutras pays much attention to this. He considers such a term as “Dukha”. Also, this term is widely used in Buddhism, being one of the Central concepts of the Four Noble Truths proclaimed by the Buddha Shakyamuni. However, Patanjali considers such a phenomenon as Dukha in more detail and explains the causes.
From Sanskrit the term “Dukha” can be translated as `restless dissatisfaction`, `painful experience`, `anguish`, `unbearability`. The most popular translation for the Russian language is `suffering’, but this word does not fully reflect The essence that dukha carries. It is a deeper concept than mere suffering. Suffering often refers to specific painful experiences that arise from physical or mental discomfort. Dukha, on the other hand, means rather a tendency of the mind which arises for two reasons: because of the impermanence of the world and because of attachment to something or someone. As I wrote earlier, the Vedas describe the laws and rules of human life and society. These rules are based on the laws of the Universe, on the knowledge of the interaction of the male and female principles, and were specially given to people, because the sages of antiquity understood that the strength of the state lies in the strength of its citizens. The strength of citizens is not physical strength, it is the inner strength of the consciousness of citizens. First, certain powers were taken away from people by knowledge. Then they deliberately and for a long time destroyed consciousness. This was done on purpose, because if people take away knowledge, and if they are given a substitute for happiness, in the form of alcohol, which can completely destroy even the most subtle mind, then you can be sure that society will be destroyed sooner or later. Shankha Prakshalana – yogic practice of bowel cleansing (part 1)
Shankha (Skt. Shankha) – means “mollusk shell”, prakshalana (Skt. Prakshalana) – complete washing, purification. Shankha-Prakshalana (SHP) – the practice of cleansing the gastrointestinal tract. Ancient people were observant: mollusks wash their shell, sucking and pushing water out with muscular effort. The common name for SHP is translated as “Shell gesture”. The SH procedure consists of drinking salted water, performing a series of special exercises that push water through the digestive tract until it is evacuated through the anus, and following the instructions for a subsequent diet that ensures the formation of pristine microflora. Thus, this is a natural, reliable, simple and soft method removing accumulated toxins and cleansing the entire digestive tract from the mouth to the anus. Continue reading
